Sometimes you can. Sometimes you can't. Depends on the thread I suppose. You can see it in the bottom right corner of your post.

Because your "reputation" should be based on how much you contribute, not how many funny posts you've made in most replies

Ah. I wish there were a separate system where you could still like posts, but it wouldn't help their reputation. That would take a while to set up though, and there are probably more important things to do on this board.
